Wow! Over 2 years since my last post? Quick recap!

Oops! Forgot I had a blog there for a second. And then all these great ideas came to me and I thought, "Hey, I should blog about this (and that, and that, and that)!" Gosh, so much has happened since I last updated.

Shortly after my last post, I found out that we were expecting Baby #2! We planned to keep the same midwives and have a homebirth.

In May of 2012, we had a check up with Josey's cardiologist and he found that it'd be necessary to go in and repair his cleft mitral valve and remove the subaortic membrane that was causing his little heart to work way harder than it should have to. Not what any parent ever wants to hear, but we were blessed in that as far as major medical issues some can face, his was so easily fixed. After a fun summer filled with turning 2, camping with friends and family, swimming lessons, and pool parties, Josey had his open heart surgery and sailed through it. He was such a trooper, healed up quicker than his doctor had ever seen, and was back to jumping off the furniture (and giving his mother and grandparents heart attacks for fear he'd bust his breastbone back open!) in no time.

In November, we welcomed our daughter, Dani! Ten days past her "due" date and a whirlwind homebirth we almost didn't make it home for, she made her appearance. Josey was so sweet, helping and watching, and loved his sister instantly.

This girl brings so much fun to our lives! I truly believe that God gives you the exact person you need in your life, and I can see so many things he wanted to teach me by giving us Dani. She is sassy and brave, passionate and opinionated, nurturing and kind (mostly!), sensitive and fierce. She is a joy and challenge, and I'm learning so much about God's character just by being her mommy. I'll be posting much more frequently now that she is finally settling into more of a predictable sleep schedule, so be on the lookout for lots of pictures and updates! Thanks for visiting!
